Finding Funds

Community networking is run by a group of individuals who are passionate about a cause. It is a commitment towards the realization of programs that will be beneficial for the common good. Sustainability is a great challenge for a community network, especially since funding is hard to come by. This kind of modern social relationship is not profit oriented but professional in nature and businesslike in structure, complete with board members, officials and committees. Labor cost is minimized since it is usually run by committed individuals and volunteers. Funding is necessary in a community network's operations which includes communicating with members and volunteers and also implementing its program. Community networks start out small and are often overlooked by conventional financial institutions such as banks. The best way to attract and acquire financial support is to have a clear advocacy and detailed plans on program implementation. There is a number of private financial intermediaries such as cooperatives, donors and other institutions that are willing to lend financial support to community network. Linking with other organizations who share the same advocacy is also a good way of fostering a good relationship which hopefully, would lead to a good partnership in the future.
