The Wacky Side of Indiana

Bored of the usual offerings tourist agent and operators give you of Indiana, the Hoosier State? Get off the well-beaten path and see the wacky and unusual ways Hoosiers, as the natives of Indiana call themselves, celebrate life and their country. You will be surprised at the weird and sometimes out of this world attractions you may find as you go around the Midwest. You might want to check out the town named Santa Claus where it is Christmas all year round. Check out the different Santa and Yuletide character landmarks scattered all over the town. Next stop will have to be World's Largest Ball of Paint created by the painter Michael Carmichael. Who does not want to check this tennis ball covered with more than 18 thousand coats of paint? Then take a trip to Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home Museum in Knightstown where it now resides. Of course, Lake Village's Giant Lady's Leg Sundial is a must-see. Located in Sun Aura Nudist Resort, you can take a picture with this 63 foot leg in your birthday suit. Other important stops are Holy Mother Grotto with its three floors of inner shrines, the memorial museum of the astronaut GusGrissom in Mitchell, US Vice Presidential Museum and Dan Quayle Center in Huntington, US Vice Presidential Museum, RV Hall of Fame in the world's recreational vehicle mecca--Elkhart, and the John Palooka statue in honor of the comic strip character that stands in Oolitic's main street.
